3 Phase Transformers
Used to set voltages in all 3 phase
applications where a 3 phase power supply exists.
3 Phase Converters
Convert single phase to 3 phase power when 3 phase is most desirable.
Medical Isolation Transformers
Necessary for any hospital and medical
equipment covered by state and federal safety and performance regulations.
Isolation Transformers
Separates the incoming power from that
which finally runs the equipment. Protects against unwanted characteristics
generated in the use of power within an area.
Buck Boost Transformers
Often used for low voltage applications
and raising voltage for 230V motors or 120V lighting systems;
designed to reduce (buck) or
raise (boost) line voltage from 5% to 20%.
Custom Transformers
Specific needs can be filled by custom
building a transformer to the requirements of the customer.
Step Down Transformers
Adjust voltage from high voltage
transmission lines or to correct local lines for chronically high voltage
conditions.
Step Up Transformers
Adjust voltage for transmission at higher
voltages or to correct local lines for chronically low voltages.
AC Line Reactors
Adjust, block or otherwise handle
unwanted power characteristics often generated during normal use of power in
an area.
Acme Transformers
A reliable leading American transformer
distributing company.
Hammond Transformers
Originated as a family -owned and run
company and is now a nation-wide distributor!
Jefferson Transformers
In business over 93 years; supplying a
diverse selection of products to an equally diverse clientele. |
PURPOSE AND APPLICATIONS
OF BUCK BOOST TRANSFORMERS
Buck Boost Transformers
are small single-phase transformers commonly used
when voltages are consistently too high or too low to efficiently run
equipment like motors and electronics when these applications best run at
their rated power demand. These are a very economical way to achieve optimum
electrical service. Adjusting 208V conditions to 230V for motors and going
from 110V to 120V for lighting are two common examples.
Buck Boost transformers are not intended to
correct variable voltage conditions.
Buck
Boost Transformers are built to reduce (buck) or raise (boost) line
voltage from 5% to 20%. They specifically address chronically off-standard
local voltage conditions and adjust to optimum for the equipment to be used.
Adjusting local voltages for
industrial and commercial heating and air conditioning systems and boosting
240V to 277V for lighting systems are also very common uses.
Buck Boost Transformers
are additionally employed in lower voltage applications. Landscape lighting
and low voltage lighting are examples of this type of usage. It is common to see
Buck Boost transformers with primary voltages running at 120V, 240V, or
440V with secondary circuits usually running at 12, 16, 24, 32 or 48 volts,
though other voltages can be custom-ordered. Sizes are often usually
available in 50 VA through 10KVA.
Warning!
Equipment failure can result from incorrect voltage. It can be
critical to have a Buck Boost Transformer properly installed under
chronically high or low voltage conditions!
