3 Phase Transformers
Used to set voltages in all 3 phase
applications where a 3 phase power supply exists.
3 Phase Converters
Convert single phase to 3 phase power when 3 phase is most desirable.
Medical Isolation Transformers
Necessary for any hospital and medical
equipment covered by state and federal safety and performance regulations.
Isolation Transformers
Separates the incoming power from that
which finally runs the equipment. Protects against unwanted characteristics
generated in the use of power within an area.
Buck Boost Transformers
Often used for low voltage applications
and raising voltage for 230V motors or 120V lighting systems;
designed to reduce (buck) or
raise (boost) line voltage from 5% to 20%.
Custom Transformers
Specific needs can be filled by custom
building a transformer to the requirements of the customer.
Step Down Transformers
Adjust voltage from high voltage
transmission lines or to correct local lines for chronically high voltage
conditions.
Step Up Transformers
Adjust voltage for transmission at higher
voltages or to correct local lines for chronically low voltages.
AC Line Reactors
Adjust, block or otherwise handle
unwanted power characteristics often generated during normal use of power in
an area.
Acme Transformers
A reliable leading American transformer
distributing company.
Hammond Transformers
Originated as a family -owned and run
company and is now a nation-wide distributor!
Jefferson Transformers
In business over 93 years; supplying a
diverse selection of products to an equally diverse clientele. |
PURPOSE AND APPLICATIONS
OF MEDICAL ISOLATION TRANSFORMERS
Medical Isolation Transformers
protect sensitive equipment, staff and patients exposed to that
equipment against such things as stray currents that can bleed through and
cause damages, injuries and even death. This is made possible through a
design which delivers
power
through discrete circuits that never contact or interconnect. They are often
also either shielded to block and bleed off stray currents to the ground or
double-insulated so the undesirable characteristics will never reach as far
as the equipment in use or the people using or exposed to the equipment.
Medical Isolation Transformers
meet the exacting specifications as outlined in government and safety
regulations. It is a fact that the conditions within an area of electrical
usage, such as in large buildings, places there are many
electronic devices, where many applications are running concurrently, and
where equipment is being constantly started and stopped can result in many
unwanted conditions; surges, voltage irregularities, feedback, harmonic
currents, ghost currents,
static charges, etc.
Use of Medical Isolation
Transformers not only protects people and equipment, but helps proof
manufacturers of medical equipment, institutions, hospitals, doctor's
offices and other medical facilities against possible legal repercussions as
a result of sensitive equipment, patients and staff being affected by such
variable conditions.
Operating
room and patient care facilities are often considered "wet" conditions,
where grounding of personnel and patients with parts of the equipment might
normally have resulted in a dangerous leakage. Additionally, the patient is
often catheterized or has open wounds or is opened up while receiving a
medical procedure, amplifying the definition of "wet". Such a circumstance
where flow of current exceeds safe tolerances is called a ground fault.
Medical
Isolation Transformers also can include special circuitry design meant
to prevent failure of service while mid sensitive operations or while hooked
up to patients where failure of service might mean drastic consequences.
The
above-mentioned circuitry involves a transformer with its secondary circuit
"floating free" or having no ground. For a fault to occur one must contact
both sides of the 120V circuit. Fault alarms are employed to warn when there
is a leakage issue and various parts of the design allow one to selectively
turn off equipment once it is safe for the patient.
If
uninterrupted service is not an issue, then Medical Isolation
Transformers can include a ground fault circuit interrupter where the
circuit kicks out of service under prescribed currents lower than deemed
harmful.
