3 Phase Transformers
Used to set voltages in all 3 phase applications where a 3 phase power supply exists.

3 Phase Converters
Convert single phase to 3 phase power when 3 phase is most desirable.

Medical Isolation Transformers
Necessary for any hospital and medical equipment covered by state and federal safety and performance regulations.

Isolation Transformers
Separates the incoming power from that which finally runs the equipment. Protects against unwanted characteristics generated in the use of power within an area.

Buck Boost Transformers
Often used for low voltage applications and raising voltage for 230V motors or 120V lighting systems;
designed to reduce (buck) or raise (boost) line voltage from 5% to 20%.

Custom Transformers
Specific needs can be filled by custom building a transformer to the requirements of the customer.

Step Down Transformers
Adjust voltage from high voltage transmission lines or to correct local lines for chronically high voltage conditions.

Step Up Transformers
Adjust voltage for transmission at higher voltages or to correct local lines for chronically low voltages.

AC Line Reactors
Adjust, block or otherwise handle unwanted power characteristics often generated during normal use of power in an area.

Acme Transformers
A reliable leading American transformer distributing company.

Hammond Transformers
Originated as a family -owned and run company and is now a nation-wide distributor!

Jefferson Transformers
In business over 93 years; supplying a diverse selection of products to an equally diverse clientele.

PURPOSE AND APPLICATIONS
OF STEP UP TRANSFORMERS

Step Up Transformers raise existing voltages to meet  requirements specific to whatever demand is being met.

Step Up TransformersThe first  application for Step Up Transformers in a power transmission system is in conversion of power coming from a generator or power source  to a very high voltage of 69 kV to 765 kV or higher as transmission of power is much more efficient at exceedingly high voltages. If voltage is increased by ten and amperage reduced by ten through use of a Step Up Transformer, loss of energy due to resistance in the line (in long distance power transmission) reduces by a factor or 100!

Though local distribution stations may usually require Step Down Transformers (since voltages will usually be reduced and relayed for further reduction to even more local and smaller transformers) there are times power may be split off and rerouted to other areas. In this case Step Up Transformers may be used. Additionally, There may be times when local power generation systems add power into the grid, and in this case the power will also require a Step Up Transformer to merge this additional power into the distribution and power transmission system at a voltage matching the system at that point.

Step Up Transformers can be used whenever a voltage is constantly lower than desired and simply raising to a higher constant voltage will meet the need. Conversion is a simple matter of an incoming circuit with a specific number of windings which will induce a current in a set of outgoing windings (the incoming windings fewer in a specific ratio to those of the outgoing circuit). This will result in a higher voltage and a correspondingly lower amperage.

Step Up Transformers and Step Down Transformers are simple reversals of purpose with a correspondingly simple similarity of construction. In fact, there are times when they could actually be wired in backwards to fulfill their opposite's job. However, it is critical to note that carelessly doing so may damage equipment since the ratio of windings must be exact and convert the specific source of voltage to the specific voltage needed.
